Agra is better known for the Taj Mahal than for heavy industry, yet the Foundry Informatics Centre lists it among India's major foundry clusters, next to Batala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Pune and Coimbatore. The same industry profile notes that some Agra foundries are changing over to cokeless cupolas, a sign that plants are modernising how they melt and move metal. Every one of those upgrades raises a handling question, because molten metal, heavy moulds and finished castings all need to travel safely through the shop.
This guide is for plant managers, maintenance heads and procurement teams looking for an EOT crane manufacturer in Agra. It explains which crane types suit foundries and other local industries, what to settle before requesting quotes, and what to check in a supplier. Timeskrane has supplied industrial lifting equipment since 1988, and the points below reflect what we confirm with each buyer before preparing a quotation.
The Agra district administration lists several industrial areas, including Foundry Nagar, the Nunhai industrial estate, the Sikandra areas and a mini estate at Achnera. Foundry Nagar is the centre of the casting trade, and footwear and its supplier industries add a large second cluster. Under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, Agra is also one of six nodes, with investment proposals of about Rs 607 crore reported by PTI in March 2026.
A foundry shows the lifting problem clearly. Pattern shops, moulding floors, furnace bays, fettling areas and machine shops all handle heavy items in sequence, and each step depends on the one before it. Hand hoists, chain pulleys and hired mobile cranes slow that sequence and put people close to hot, heavy loads. An EOT (electric overhead travelling) crane moves loads above the floor on fixed runway beams, which keeps walkways clear and makes every lift predictable.
Road access suits buyers in Delhi NCR and beyond. The Yamuna Expressway links Delhi NCR to Agra, so deliveries, installation crews and service visits can reach the city by road.
The right crane depends on capacity, building structure and duty cycle. These are the configurations Agra buyers ask about most.
A single girder EOT crane carries its hoist on one main beam. It works well in fettling shops, machine shops, pattern stores and small fabrication bays where loads are moderate. It costs less than a double girder crane and loads the building structure more lightly, which matters in older sheds.
A double girder EOT crane runs the hoist trolley on rails across two girders. This gives higher capacity, longer spans and more hook height, along with a stronger duty rating. Moulding floors, furnace bays and bays that run several shifts a day normally need this design.
Underslung cranes hang from the roof structure instead of running on columns. They suit packing halls, footwear component stores and warehouses where columns would block the floor.
Single machines and workstations often work better with a jib crane or a KBK light crane system than with a full bay crane. Scrap yards, sand stores and open storage areas call for a portal or gantry crane.
Foundry cranes work harder than most. Heat, dust, sand and vibration wear down hoists, wheels, brakes and electrical panels faster than in a clean workshop. A crane for this setting needs a higher duty class, heat protection for motors and cables, sealed or well-protected panels and a design that allows easy inspection.
Where the crane lifts molten metal, it must be designed for that duty from the start, with the correct hoist arrangement and safety features. State this clearly when you request quotes. Our page on EOT cranes for steel plants explains the duty ratings that apply to rolling, casting and other hot-metal environments.
Machined castings are heavy and easy to damage. A variable frequency drive gives slow, smooth hook movement for loading machines and setting fixtures, so surface finishes and tolerances stay intact. Single girder cranes cover many of these bays, and larger components move into double girder territory.
Loads in these plants are lighter, but they move often and across many stations. KBK systems, jib cranes and underslung cranes keep the floor clear and cover several work areas without a heavy runway. Specify cranes for the real load, not the biggest load, to avoid paying for capacity that never gets used.
A quotation depends on the data you provide. Collect these points first:
Add a sketch or photographs of the bay, and the manufacturer can size the girders, select the hoist and check whether your building can carry a runway. Our EOT crane price guide by capacity shows how capacity and span affect cost, which helps when you set a budget.
Many suppliers will quote a crane, and the differences appear after delivery. These checks help you compare them:
Ask for these in the quotation itself. A supplier that answers each point clearly before the order is likely to be just as clear after it.
Installation quality decides how long a crane runs without trouble. Runway alignment, rail levelling and the electrical connection must be right before the load test, and your team should know each stage before the crew arrives.
Cranes in India are subject to statutory examination by a competent person under the Factories Act and state rules. Keep inspection and test records on file, and confirm the current requirements with your factory inspectorate.
Foundry cranes need closer attention than most. Wire rope, brakes, limit switches, wheels and electrical contacts wear faster in heat and dust, so schedule shorter inspection intervals and clean panels regularly. Our EOT crane maintenance page outlines what a routine should cover. Plan major work around production gaps so a crane is never withdrawn from service at a critical time.
Timeskrane has been in industrial lifting since 1988, and the TK Crane brand was launched in 2012. Our range covers EOT cranes, hoists, KBK systems, jib cranes and portal cranes for manufacturing, steel, automotive, cement, power, textile and chemical plants across India. We match the crane to your bay, your duty cycle and your budget, and we explain the trade-offs in plain terms before you commit.

Timeskrane manufactures semi gantry cranes in India for workshops, yards and plants where one side runs on a floor rail and the other on a building runway.

A fabrication shop with a low roof truss. A stamping line where two operators share one bay. A warehouse that cannot give up a single aisle. Each of these plants asks for the same thing in different words: a crane that fits the building, not a building that has to adapt to a catalog model.
